Are You Wearing Your Eyeglasses Properly? 3 Signs You Aren’t

There is a right way and a wrong way to wear your eyeglasses. Your glasses should be fit to your face and to your eyes, which is why someone else's eyeglasses may not fit your face properly. Your ears aren't lined up the way someone else's are, and your eyes may not be spaced the same way someone else's are. If you aren't wearing your eyeglasses properly, there are some signs that may indicate this. Read on for some signs that you aren't wearing your eyeglasses properly.

1. Your Ears Hurt

If you have pain around your ears where your eyeglasses curve around your ears, it may be because the eyeglasses are too tight for your head, or the earpieces are too long for your ears. Either way, this pain can be irritating and you should have your eyeglasses adjusted to fit your ears properly. If your eyeglasses are irritating your ears, it can make it difficult to concentrate daily and it could also cause issues with wearing them at all. If you're taking them off often because of the pain around your ears, you aren't going to be able to see properly, which is why you are wearing them to begin with. Have them readjusted to fit your ears.

2. Your Eyes Hurt

If your eyes feel strained, it may be because of the placement of your lenses. If your lenses aren't lined up properly for your vision, it can cause eye strain issues. If you have bifocals, trifocals, or progressive lenses, this can also cause a problem. They need to be lined up properly, so if they aren't, they need to be readjusted. Another reason your eyes hurt from your eyeglasses may be because they aren't the right prescription. You should get to the optometrist for an eye exam and for a new prescription.

3. You Are Constantly Adjusting Them

If you are constantly adjusting your glasses, it may be because they simply do not fit your face properly. If they are too large or too small, they may make it difficult to focus. If your eyeglasses don't fit your nose or are rubbing on your forehead or your cheeks, they aren't the proper fit. If you are adjusting them a lot, they need to be adjusted.

If you wear glasses, there's a good chance you aren't wearing them properly. Have them adjusted at your local eye doctor and have your eyes examined if you need to update your prescription to ensure you are seeing as well as possible.
